There are several things that I noticed when I first saw this lamp. The first was the thickness of the glass on both the shade and the base. The second thing that stood out was the lack of air holes or slots as found on most of the old shades which had a flat bottom. Then I started to do some digging into the history and product that the Hobbs Brockunier made. At no time in their history did they use a makers mark until they were taken over by the US Glass Co., so what is the red arrow pointing to? I have blown the photo up 400% and still can’t see anything other than straw marks and scratches. The last thing that makes me think something is not quite right is the style of glass. If you do a web search for photos of Hobbs Brockunier glass, it would appear that they never made anything like this style of glass rod design. Most Hobbs Brockunier glass is Hobnail, Peach Blow, Pressed glass, Rubina Verde, Milk glass, Rubina, and Daisy & Button. This is far from a complete list, but nothing comes close to the glass shown in this auction.
I hope for the high bidder, they know what they are doing and know what types and styles of glass were made by the Hobbs Brockunier Glass Works.
(This is just my opinion, and is in no way to be taken as fact)

In reviewing past newsletter articles, I found this one that may shed some light on this lamp.
