As usual, the base is embossed with the Fairy and typical S. Clarke Fairy Pyramid. The shade was marked with the common acid mark of “Trade Mark, Fairy”, however, there was more to the acid mark. It also said “Made Abroad”. Has anyone seen this additional information on a lamp piece before? Was this mark necessary to meet import duty fees, or something else? The lamp is similar to the R-336, R337 and R-338 lamps on page 104 in the Elegance in Candle Lighting book. Have a look and give me some ideas why it would be there.
