Fairy Lamp Cup
I'm away from home and don't have my reference books with me nor do I have my complete memory with me. I just found a fairy lamp cup that says S Clarke Fairy Pyramid and the "R" is backwards in Fairy. I know you have addressed this previously, but I can't remember what the information was. Could someone provide me with a refresher course?

Re: Fairy Lamp Cup
Susan,
The question was raised in Issue II, February 1997......and, it has never been resolved. Following is the article from Issue II.
What is the significance of the backward “R” in the Clarke candle cup?
We received several opinions related to the backward “R.” Most members believe that it is a mold maker's mistake. One of our members suggests that the mold was only in production one year beginning late 1892 then destroyed. However, no one has any conclusive evidence.
In addition, there is at least one example of an upside down “TRADE” in the word “TRADEMARK” of Clarke’s candle cups.
In reviewing Jim & Pat’s collection, they found that they have not one, but four pyramid candle cups with a backward “R.” One of these is a contemporary cobalt blue crystal cup. We think there is more to this story. What do you think?
Boy!! The Newsletter has come a long way in 12 years!!
Jim.
P.S. Traveling without your books???? You know better than that.

Fairy Lamp Cup
Thanks for the prompt reply. This is the first time I didn't bring the Ruf book with me. When I can, I'll photograph the fairy lamp and cup if you want to see it.

Re: Fairy Lamp Cup
ModelASuzan wanted me to post a photo of her new find along with a photo of the lamp cup with the backward "R". So here it is:
You will recognize this fairy lamp as R-31 with the following description:
She could have posted the image herself but, instead, she wanted to have the opportunity to write step-by-step instructions on how to post an image. Which, of course, I will do for those who may need a little help. Just give me a little time to put the instructions together.
