Silver Traveling Candle Box
I didn't want to draw attention to this item while the auction was in progress, as I had hoped to be the winning bidder, but to no avail. This is what I believe to be a candle box for a double wick Cricklite candle. The auction makes the note that a votive candle would fit. What I find interesting is that it is hallmarked for being manufactured in London in 1908. The maker’s marks in the silver are the GJ over DF indicating Jackson and Fullerton. Was this made specifically for a Cricklite candle. Looking at the shape, it would seem so. I have seen several of these candle boxes, but none as nice as this one. This box is certainly a lot nicer than others I have seen. The one below was sold on eBay a few years back and has a match safe in the bottom.
