There are plenty of things to say about this eBay auction:

Putting the obvious issues asside, what is the decoration on the small "rose bowl" fitting and on the base? I can't seem to be able to recognize it. Could it be an "after market" decoration or a legitimate one that we may not have seen before. If anyone HAS seen it before, I would like to see some additional examples.

P.S. Check the sellers other auction for a couple more fairy lamps.

After looking at the photos, I see a 6 petal flower which is interesting! Flowers with 3 or 6 petals are generally monocots (bulbs and bulblike plants, cactus, grasses, palms), but the leaves (the oval ones) are clearly those of a dicot (herbacious and woody perennials and shrubs). The painting in the past has been rather true to the actual specimen, so this could help narrow it down. Some examples of plants that don't follow the standard plant make-up listed above are the Clematis and Gardenia. So your guess is as good as mine right now. I have asked for additional photos, so we shall see.

This auction closed with no bids. It has been relisted again with additional photos of the unknown decoration on the base.

The decoration is still unknown, but the new photos revealed an additional anomaly.....another unknown decoration on the bottom of the base. Aside from the unusual decoration, having the bottom decorated is, the best of my knowledge, unprecedented. Thoughts?
