Yes, you are correct in your assessment of this epergne. I suspect it may have had clear trumpet posey holders at one time. While the decorated Webb posey holders are very nice, the asking price would seem the be out of proportion to their value.
This same piece was offered for auction some time ago with no takers.

I guess nobody is going to weigh in on this one. It appears to me that the decorated burmese flutes have nothing to do with the brass stand. They were probably once part of a "proper" burmese epergne or a fairy lamp. Someone could probably use these burmese parts to complete a piece, but the cost may be prohibitive. Because of breakage/separation, etc. it seems parts become scattered in all directions. Sometimes we are lucky enough to discover a missing piece if we look hard enough or make a lucky find.
