I have many of the Indiana glass co Fairy Litghts, you know, the bigger, bulky, stars and bars lamps? I was buring one yeaterday, a red one, and it broke! why? I eard after a certain date, they started adding something to the glass to prevent this. I assumed it was a bit more modern then that and nonw of the other colors broke! I am upset because red is hard to find!!! What a Face

I am sorry your lamp broke, but it is not uncommon. While contempory lamps are a bit safer to burn, antique lamps are not. If you have lamps that are important to you, you might consider using LED battery candles. The following link will take you to a Newsletter article related to their use.
