Fairy Lamp Base? Empty Fairy Lamp Base?

Post by Guest Thu Apr 03, 2008 6:44 am

Attached are photos of a glass bowl. It is 6 1/2" point to point, roughly 2" tall, approximately 3" across the "bowl" where a base would sit. A regular fairy lamp base fits in pretty good with just a little wiggle room. Do you think this is a base to a fairy lamp? Any help would be appreciated.

Suzan,

I have had several dishes like this over the years in both pink and green. The fist one I bought was in the late 70's and it was decorated with gold colored filigree. At the time I thought it was a fairy lamp base. Now, I am of the opinion it is a candy dish. That said, I think you will agree that it makes a great base for what would be a pretty plain fairy lamp. This shade, although it appears to be white, is a pale green and goes quite nicely with the base.

My advice, keep the base and find yourself a complimentary shade to go with it.

You will find a pink version of the base illustrated in R-623 shown below.
