I get a lot of questions about fairy lamps. Most I can handle but this one has me stumped.

What an interesting item!

I guess we need to assume that this is OUR "Clarke"????

I just want to point out that the central cylinder holds a regular candle inside the brass tube and a spring in the bottom(visible in the photo of the underside of the base) pushes the candle up and keeps it at the top of the cap where it can burn at the same level no matter how short the candle becomes.

I wonder if "elastic glass" may refer to some sort of ising glass or FLEXIBLE material that could make a "shade" or "chimney" that could bend and "snap" into the fingers on the edge of the shade holder???????

Is it known that Clarke made regular candles and not just the nightlights?

I hope someone has the answers!

Yes, I have the answers.......but you are just going to have to wait until the next newsletter to find out. And, to keep you interest.....it is OUR Clarke.

One of the best things about our hobby is that we continue to make interesting discoveries. This one is really cool!
