Cricklite Candelabra - FC Osler

Even with a few issues, this is a very nice Cricklite candelabra. The seller indicates it was made by FC Osler in the UK. This company was a well known maker of cut glass light fixtures during the Victorian period. Curious, I asked the seller how he knew who the maker was. He replied:

I have had signed oil lamps with exactly the same castings used, if you dismantle an osler lamp each metal piece usualy has a part number cast into it, Oslers rarely have the name on but sometimes it is under the foot in small writing. I do not know if they produced all the cut lamps but certainly the bigger multi part ones.

So, with that in mind, does anyone have a Cricklite stand similar to this one with markings on the brasswork?

I have looked over an example of R-731 and have found only “CLARKE’S CRICKLITE TRADE MARK” stamped into the bottom of the base, the flared brass / ormolu piece that holds in the top crystal trumpet in place as well as each of the lamp rings having the “CLARKE’S TRADE MARK CRICKLITE” stamped in them.

I have also looked at two examples of U-183 and found one of them with “CLARKE’S CRICKLITE TRADE MARK” stamped in the bottom with stamped lamp rings, while the other one has no Clarke markings at all, except for the lamp rings, but all the brass / ormolu pieces are stamped with a matching number and letter. But I found no markings for FC Osler on any of the three lamps.

As I look at the photo currenty at auction, I’m amazed by the different shapes of the Cricklite shades, but they all seem to have the brass band around the bottom. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yep, it appears there are at least three Fostoria shades mixed in with the Clarke Cricklite shades. I assume all the bands are Clarke's. Of course, the Fostoria shades did not come with bands.

Interesting anout the matching part numbers. I may have do do some additional research on Osler. It appears that they are good candidate for Clarke's Cricklite standards, expecially the ornate designs like this one.

I also think the two posey vases with metal "crowns" are not original. They were probably added to cover up some damage to the posey vases.
