Unusual DQMOP Fairy Lamp
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any ideas as to origin, vintage, maker?
Re: Unusual DQMOP Fairy Lamp
Last night while trying to get to sleep, it came to me where I had seed this style of shade before. Not in a fairy lamp book, but in a miniature lamp book, specifically, Miniature Lamps I by Frank and Ruth Smith, copyright 1968, Figures 576 - 579.
Given that the shade shown in the eBay auction is probably designed for a miniature lamp, I would have to conclude the base is a marriage - even though it appears to match the shade perfectly. In addition, it is not clear that the shade shown in the eBay is close to the same size as the ones shown on the miniature lamps.
That's my story, and I'm stickin with it.
PS: For those who have all their issues of the Fairy Lamp Newsletter, Issue V and VI (1997-1998) include articles on "Cross-over lamps" similar to these.
