This poor old gal has seen better days, but thats not the question. Were these made for electric lighting as well? I see no cord releif or hole around the base for one. The lack of Cricklite markings is also interesting, and has that metal bracket at the top been added? This is another example where the base dosn't have the second layer as so many do. She can be found on ebay at the link below:

Cricklite or not? Empty Sell, Sell, SOLD!

Post by cadking Tue Mar 05, 2013 9:38 pm

Sometimes I find it amazing how bidders think on ebay. This item was first offered at $299.00 with no takers and only one offer, which I know was low as it was my offer. It ran its course with no sale at the end. It was then reposted with a starting price at $19.99 with no reserve. The final sale price the second time around was $311.00 with $31.00 in shipping. Why did the high bidder not pay the asking price the first time? Why did the under bidder not pay the asking price the first time? Did they get an estimate to get the old gal fixed that was lower than they originally thought? Of course, it will always be a repaired Royal Worcester piece. Not only will the arm need to be surgically attached, but the top of the pot will need to have major work / attention before it can be returned to look as it might have, and the question that was asked originally still has not been answered, is this a Cricklite base or not?

Cricklite or not? Empty Re: Cricklite or not?

Auctions are indeed unpredictable and confusing. Sometimes, like this example, thry make no sense at all.

As for these stands being used for electric lamps, I've seen an example. However, I do think they were adapted for oll lamps and as standalone figurines.

So, knowing that you made a modest offer for this piece, I am curious what you planned to do with it.
