Advice appreciated - Pyramid Fairy base
Hi all,
I joined the forum because I have dug out a fairy lamp from boxes that belonged to my grandparents. When I first found it I had no idea what it was but the fairy was interesting, so I googled it and found myself here. I have read a little about the lamps and it took me awhile to figure out I had a base minus the top part of the light. At first I thought it was an urn made by the same company that made the fairy lamps.
I've attached pics of my find.

I have an interest in old stuff and I've become the 'checker' in the family. I have read that people ask ridiculous prices for 'old' lamps, so what would anyone in here call a "ridiculous" price for this base. I have seen similar bases on eBay going for $50 and no one has bid, so is that a ridiculous price? Is this an old or 'less old' base? Was this urn style base reproduced for years and years so its age can't exactly be determined? This one has S Clarke Fairy Pyramid around the bottom with the love heart corseted fairy on the bottom of it. This is definitely old, but were contemporary fakes/repros made at the time and if so, is this one?
I'd rather this go to someone who would appreciate it more than anyone who has it stashed in a box all wrapped up - I'd like to find a top to it and display it, but I don't like my chances of getting one for a decent price anywhere. So in the box it stays, or I could sell it if I get an understanding of what it's worth because I don't want to sell it for a song if it's worth a lot more, and I don't want to stick it on ebay hugely overpriced where no one will buy it. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Advice appreciated - Pyramid Fairy base
You have a nice old fairy lamp base - pyramid-size, c. 1890s. Yes, the $50 price tag on eBay is much too high. This cup should sell for less than $20.
Finding a dome on eBay would not be too difficult, but it may be more than you want to spend. If you wish to sell it on eBay, have an opening bid of $10 and let the collectors decide on iits value.

Re: Advice appreciated - Pyramid Fairy base
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you very much for your prompt response, I'm very glad I asked an expert before thinking of selling it for $50. With your advice, I'm going to hold on to it in the hope of finding a top from the same era at a decent price. Thank you again
