I acquired a box of clarke parts for the food warmers and included was a clarke inhaler. I've never seen one like it and was wondering what it would be worth?  I have pics and  could send some, but its been awhile since i've been on this site and i would have to be told on how to attach a picture.  Its in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or any issues whatsoever.  Has any one ever seen one before or its worth???

I would like to see the photo. If you can't figure out how to post it, send it to ne at jimsapp7@msn.com and I'll take care of it.

has any one ever seen a victorian clarke inhaler before? Empty Clarke Inhaler

Post by cadking Mon Nov 04, 2013 11:13 pm

I have seen three ceramic inhalers which are all in private collections across the US. There was another one I did not know about that sold last weekend with other miscellaneous parts and pieces which will need to be reunited with other components to make them hole again. I have been looking for one for my collection of food warmers for a while. As I continue to look, I hope to find a nice one some day that fits into my collection. They look to have had a tendency to be chipped fairly easily as they had several fragile edges. I believe the number of the inhalers is smaller than food warmers as they would most likely not have been used as much, and so were put away and separated from the base more easily than the typical Pannikin or ceramic cup and lid. In the Feb 2009 newsletter there is an ad showing the "Combination Lamp" with the Pannikin, inhaler, kettle and stand. This same newsletter shows a different style of inhaler which was also used by Clarke. One note is that the inhaler was used without the water cup so it will have a different diameter than the common Pannikin. If it was not used directly above the fairy lamp, the liquid inside would never get to the boiling point and do little or no good in the effort to prevent influenza or aid in the relief of Bronchitis and Asthma. I'm excited to hear of another inhaler being found. This gives me hope of completing my quest some day.
