We had the oppertunity of aquiring this item recently but decided on reflection that this was almost certainly the middle part of a Taylor Tunnicliffe pyramid sized base, although the condition report from the auction house gave us no idication that it had been separated from its base.

This dealer now wants a lot of money for an incomplete item.

I have asked for additional photos of the bottom of the base. I think that will answer several questions. I would also guess that it is the middle of a R-507 or similar.

From the new picture now up on ebay I would say this has been broken out of the centre of a TT bowl base.
Having said that it still looks quite good.

I didn't want the photos to get lost so I added them to this thread for reference.

I also think that this is a piece left over from a TT bowl. With the bottom being so rough and unfinished, it isn't like any other TT pieces. If a piece of green felt was glued onto the bottom, most people would never know, and passed off as correct.
