Julia Fairy Lamp Auction - June 2010

Post by Admin on Thu Jun 17, 2010 6:29 am

I just wanted to remind you of the fairy lamp auction this weekend at Julia's. There are several top end fairy lamps available along with many miniature lamps. Fot the fairy lamp collectors, I have put all the offerings on a webpage for your review. I will add the hammer price to this page after the auction for our records. The fairy lamp webpage is at:

The complete Julia auction catalog is at:

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I have updated the Julia Fairy Lamp auction with the final selling price. The selling price includes a buyer's premium of 15-17% depending on how the lot was paid for. As usual, the auction had mixed results. The website is at:

http://www.fairy-lamp.com/Fairylamp/Julia_Auction_June_2010.html

There is, however, something a bit unusual about this auction --- the number of unsold lots seemed to be very high. Of the 1114 total lots, 37% (413) did not sell. Of the 23 fairy lamp lots, 40% (9) did not sell. Perhaps this is typical but it seems very high to me. The reason for the unsold lots is unknown but I assume it is because the reserve price was not met. Were the reserves set too high or is this a reflection of the ecomony? What say you?

Jim.
