FAIRY LAMP COLLECTION
(Part selling in Seattle, Washington – Part in Hillsborough, California)
The Fairy Lamp collection of Ralph & Sue Menning is being offered for sale under formal contract with Antique Appraisal & Estate Sale Service, Kathleen & Paul Bailey – longtime personal friends of the Mennings. Ralph & Sue Menning were founding members of the Fairy Lamp Club and many of the Menning Fairy Lamps are shown in Fairy Lamps – Elegance in Candle Lighting by Bob & Pat Ruf.
AN EXCELLENT SELECTION OF THEIR FAIRY LAMPS WILL TAKEN TO:
THE HILLSBOROUGH, CALIFORNIA ANTIQUE SHOW
November 7-9, 2008
(Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
(Approx. 30 minutes from San Francisco Airport – transportation: taxi, public, rental car)
YOUR ENTRY FEE TO THE SHOW WILL BE REFUNDED WITH THE PURCHASE OF JUST ONE LAMP!
Since this is an estate sale, sales will be FINAL and all lamps will be sold by December 31. This is the reason BUYERS MUST ACTUALLY "SEE" the lamps for purchase and approve their purchases in person. Internet and mail order for this large collection is not an option. (There is a shipper on premises at the show).
If you plan to visit the Hillsborough Antique Show pick up the show map at entry for the location of the Bailey Booth in the Fiesta Hall – Antique Appraisal & Estate Sale Svc. – Kathleen & Paul Bailey.
If you wish to view the Seattle Fairy Lamps, call Kathleen Bailey to make an appointment.
Kathleen will pick you up at Sea-Tac airport (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY), drive you to the collection, drive you to bank, buy lunch, take you and your purchases to a shipping venue and then drive you back to the airport in hopes this extra special service helps your travel budget. (Sorry, air fare is buyer's responsibility).

Re: SALE - Fairy Lamp Collection - SOLD
Any idea how many lamps are in this collection? I don't suppose it would be possible for them to post pictures of the collection with some prices. It is an expensive trip for some of us when we have no idea whether the trip would be worth it. If I travel to the Hillsboro show, maybe the lamps I would be interested in would not have seen sent to the show. Specifics would be helpful.

I just phoned and understand the constraints they are under. She tells me she is taking the best to the Hillsborough Show, so that is probably the place to go.

Re: SALE - Fairy Lamp Collection - SOLD
Kathy has informed me that the response to this announcement has been great. She has already scheduled several appointments. In addition, she has informed me that she has just packed an additional 50 lamps to take to the show in Hillsborgh and will have with her photos of the remaining lamps in Seattle for review.
Following is a note from one of our members who traveled to Seattle to see the collection.
Jim,
Thank you for posting the announcement about the fairy lamp sale in Seattle.
I called and made an appointment yesterday with Kathy Bailey to see the fairy lamp collection. Since I live in Portland, Oregon and it is only 170 miles away, I drove up. Kathy and I spent a delightful afternoon together; she even took me to lunch.
What a treat to see so many Victorian fairy lamps in one house. There is a large variety of lamps to choose from. I personally selected a pyramid size citron Nailsea lamp, and a Cleveland pattern lamp (there are many, many lamps to select from).
I recommend anyone interested in Victorian fairy lamps to contact Kathy. She is wonderful person to work with, and a pleasure to do business with!!!
I am grateful for this opportunity, and for the effort and time you put into making this available to all club members.
If only Colorado was a few hundred miles closer.
