Antique S. Clarke Fairy Lamp Flower Shaped Base Pink Glass
The description reads as follows “We are offering an antique S. Clarke's Patent Trade Mark Fairy Lamp. This item is from the Victorian/Edwardian era. A fairy lamp is designed to hold a candle. This lamp is made of satin glass in pink shades. The top is fairly solid in color. The base has an attractive flower shaped edge with tapering pink shades. The fairy lamp comes with it's original, hallmarked, clear glass candle holder or lamp cup. The clear glass holder has a hallmark of stamp of S. Clarke and has a beaded edge.” I think the shade is a little thick, what do you think. Here is a photo and the link to the auction.

Re: Antique S. Clarke Fairy Lamp Flower Shaped Base Pink Glass
I have seen these thick shades before in both pink and blue and do not know what to make of them. They remind me, however, of early LG Wright. In addition, I do not think the pink base was intended to be used with a fairy lamp (although it seems to fit nicely). I think it was intended to be a "candy dish".
This seller has put together "marriages" before. Following is from a couple weeks ago:
Speaking of LG Wright, is the base shown above an LG Wright base?

I think they would be better advised to sell the parts separately rather than to sell a marriage to an unsuspecting new collector.Speaking of LG Wright, is the base shown above an LG Wright base?
