This was just posted, and I wonder if it is a fairy lamp or something else. What are your thoughts? It’s too bad it is cracked, but maybe someone can overlook the flaws and love it for what it is. The description starts of as "This auction offers an original and very hard-to-find PALMER COX "Brownie" FAIRY LAMP. The Canadian artist's famous characters were quite the rage at the end of the Victorian era and remain a delight today. The frosted glass candle lamp is decorated with painted detail."

Want to look for yourself? The item number is 200750496671 and the link to the auction is:

Several photos are in the description, so go check them out. Here is one to whet your appetite.

I saw that little guy and had the very same question you had. Regardless, of what it is it is pretty cute and would fit in well with a figural collection. It does, however, look like someone went a little wild with a gold paint brush to "touch up" the original paint. I'm a bit surprised we have never seen one like it before.

In addition, I would remind you of the Burmese fairy lamp decorated with Cox Brownies that remains a mystery piece, at leat to me.

Jim.

I collect some Brownie items, and I can confirm that this is a Cox-style Brownie character. I've not seen this piece before.
