Am I correct in assuming that the "shade" on this base is the bowl cut off of a small wine glass?

Yes, I was expecting it to possibly bring more than it did. Also, the pattern of the cup is different than the one in my collection. I am still looking for a wee dome, and might try the wine glass trick some time. It would be better than no shade at all.
